The Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) meets monthly except in August. The meeting date is the fourth Thursday of each month except November and December, when it is the third Thursday. If needed, HPRB holds a continuation meeting, usually one week after the regular meeting.
Due to the Covid-19 public health emergency, the Historic Preservation Review Board will be meeting virtually via WebEx video until further notice. New HPRB Filings
We are currently accepting new HPRB filings electronically. Applicants should email plans and a completed concept application to [email protected]. Please note the filing deadlines for 2021 meetings are posted below.
We will notify the applicants for cases emailed to us whether HPRB review will be required, and what steps they need to take to provide the required public notice. Historic preservation filing fees will be assessed upon receipt of the application but will be collected at a later date prior to the issuance of building permits.

New CFA Filings
New US Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) filings for Old Georgetown or Shipstead-Luce review can be submitted electronically to [email protected]. Filings must include plans and a completed CFA application. We will provide further information by email to applicants regarding their responsibilities to provide public notice. CFA filing fees are not being collected at the time of filing but will be assessed by DCRA prior to the issuance of any building permits.
Information regarding changes in the permitting process at the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) and Department of Transportation (DDOT) was announced on March 24. Read the Press Release here.

Application Filing Deadline
For a project to be considered by HPRB, submit a concept or building permit application with the required plans and supporting materials by the date shown above.
Final Plans Submission
Revised electronic submission sent directly to project reviewer or general HPO mailbox by the date show above. If the plans remain the same as submitted on filing deadline, no new electronic submission is required.
Regular and Continuation Meeting
HPRB meetings are currently conducted virtually on Webex.The timed agenda and staff reports are released by the end of the dayon the Friday before the regular meeting. HPRB schedules a continuation meeting if required by the number of cases. The agenda and staff reports are usually released with those for the regular meeting.
