Columbia Heights Public Realm Framework Plan

Reference:
SAP1

Columbia Heights Public Realm imageThe plan defines design guidelines that integrate past community initiatives, such as the "1997 Community-Based Plan for Columbia Heights Metro Station Area," and builds on the District’s recent investments, including opening of the 1999 opening of the Columbia Heights Metro Station and awarding redevelopment rights for many vacant parcels within the Columbia Heights neighborhood, primarily along the 14th Street corridor.

The District presents an urban design "Framework Plan" for the Public Realm, to define, protect, and strengthen public places and streetscapes, which integrate public space with private and public development along 14th Street and the surrounding Columbia Heights neighborhood. It also seeks to create streetscapes, which define a "Community Design identity" that captures the unique qualities of Columbia Heights. Archival information on the public engagement process, hearing transcript, and public comment responses can be requested through the project manager.
