What's Happening at the DC Office of Planning? June 2021

Thursday, July 1, 2021

This month, we had the honor to join together as a country to commemorate Juneteenth. OP is involved in many efforts around racial equity, so we encourage you to continue to engage with us as OP works to make progress on these critical issues. Also this month, we were happy to join District residents in the celebration of Pride Month. At the Office of Planning, we know that good planning and design considers all stakeholders, including our LGBTQ+ residents, by carefully listening and recording their unique feedback and needs, then using this information/data to build products that reflect all voices.

In June, OP also testified to its portion of Mayor Bowser’s FY2022 Fair Shot budget. This critical budget includes $870 million to advance economic recovery for DC residents and businesses, including using a once-in-a-generation federal stimulus to close equity gaps and accelerate inclusive growth. You can watch OP’s FY22 Budget Oversight Hearing at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoOgs8hbeFM

Stay tuned as future newsletters promise to be full of milestones and planning news. Please feel free to share with others, who can sign up here. In addition, you can follow our work on Twitter under @OPinDC. You can read more below.

Sincerely,
Andrew Trueblood
Director, DC Office of Planning
