DC Awards Honor Excellence in Historic Preservation

(Washington, DC) - The District of Columbia Historic Preservation Office and the Office of Planning presented the winners of the Seventh Annual Awards for Excellence in Historic Preservation at the newly restored DC Court of Appeals (Old DC Courthouse) at Judiciary Square on November 18, which was recognized with the State Historic Preservation Officer’s Award.

Several restoration and renovation awards were presented, including one to Ford’s Theatre, and the Individual Lifetime Achievement Award went to longtime DC architect Colden “Coke” Florance.

In total, 13 awards were presented to individuals, businesses, and local organizations for exemplary work and commitment to historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and public education.
