The Historic Preservation Review Board met and considered the following items May 26, 2011. Present: Catherine Buell, Chair; Elinor Bacon, Tersh Boasberg, Maria Casarella, Christopher Landis, Pam Scott, Robert Sonderman and Joseph Taylor.
AGENDA
CLEVELAND PARK HISTORIC DISTRICT
3415 Lowell Street NW, HPA #11-278, Concept: two-story rear addition, demolish existing garage.
The Review Board approved the conceptual design for the rear addition, incorporating the design comments above and delegated final approval to staff. The Board recommended denial of the proposal to demolish the garage. Vote: 8-0.
SHERIDAN-KALORAMA HISTORIC DISTRICT
2208 Wyoming Avenue, NW, HPA #11-269, Concept: deck on rear garage.
The Review Board approved the deck in concept, contingent on it being set back from the alley and modified to have a lower, more open railing. Vote: 7-0.
A motion was made to eliminate the catwalk connection between the deck at the rear of the house and the garage deck. Motion failed: 2-4 (Boasberg and Buell in favor; Casarella, Scott, Taylor, and Landis opposed; Bacon abstained; Sonderman absent)
