The Historic Preservation Review Board met and considered the following items February 24, 2011. Present: Catherine Buell, Chair; Elinor Bacon, Tersh Boasberg, Maria Casarella, Christopher Landis, Pam Scott, Robert Sonderman, and Joseph Taylor.

Preservation and Design Guidelines for Basement Entrances and Windows
The Board provided comments for incorporation into the final draft that will be presented for adoption at the March meeting.
LANDMARK DESIGNATION HEARING
Engine Company 26/Truck Company 15, 1340 Rhode Island Avenue, NE, Case #02-18.
The Historic Preservation Review Board designated Engine Company 26/Truck Company 15 as a landmark in the DC Inventory of Historic Places and recommended that the application be forwarded to the National Park Service for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Vote 8-0.
GEORGETOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT
1412 35th Street, NW, HPA #11-134, pool and pool house.
The Board approved the project as submitted. Vote 8-0.
SHAW HISTORIC DISTRICT
1435 11th Street, NW, HPA #10-465, revised concept/construction of multi-unit building.
The HPO recommends that the Board approve the proposal as consistent with the purposes of the Act and delegate final review to staff. Vote: 8-0.
U STREET HISTORIC DISTRICT
933 Westminster Street, NW, HPA #11-131, concept/ new basement areaway.
This case was deferred from consideration at the request of the applicant.
CAPITOL HILL HISTORIC DISTRICT
720 L Street, SE, HPA #11-145, concept/new construction and subdivision.
The Board adopted the staff report, which recommended approval of the site plan and the subdivision as consistent with the purposes of the preservation act. The Board directed the applicants to restudy the design cohesiveness, proportion and scale, and streetscape presence and asked the applicants to resubmit revised plans for Board review when ready. Vote 8-0.
