Pennsylvania Avenue SE Corridor Land Development Plan

Monday, March 3, 2014
Reference:
SAP6

The study area includes all properties fronting Pennsylvania Avenue, SE from Independence Avenue SE/2nd Street SE eastward to Southern Avenue. The study area is more than three miles long and runs through parts of Wards 6, 7, and 8 in the District of Columbia. The plan offers development concepts for selected focus areas that represent a range of development opportunities throughout the project area. In developing the plan, OP worked with the Steering Committee and Advisory Committee made up of representatives from the community as well as City elected officials.

Committee members offered guidance in the development of the plan. Several community meetings were held to provide information and receive input from a broader community. In July 2008, OP released a draft plan for a 30 day public review and held a mayor’s hearing to receive testimony on the draft plan. OP responded to comments received and presented a revised plan to the Council for approval on June 2008. The Council of the District of Columbia approved this plan on July 15, 2008 through Resolution 17-0706.

Archival information on the public engagement process, hearing transcript, and public comment responses can be requested through the project manager.
