Over 100 individual residents and stakeholders participated in crafting and reviewing the Plan and its recommendations. An Advisory Committee of approximately 20 community stakeholders was a critical component in vetting the plan. The public engagement process included several public meetings and briefings to develop a strategy to improve the economic vitality and overall image of the corridor as an attractive destination for residents, business owners, and visitors. The Plan builds upon existing community assets, District Government initiatives and private sector investment in order to guide growth and development along Kennedy Street, NW, while preserving and enhancing the quality of life in the surrounding community.

The draft Plan was released for public comment on February 7, 2008 and the planning process concluded on March 13, 2008 with a Mayor’s public hearing. The Council of the District of Columbia approved this plan on July 15, 2008 through Resolution 17-0705.
