Bill Marzella serves as an Architectural Historian on the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB).
Mr. Marzella is a practitioner with nearly fifteen years of experience in the fields of architectural history and historic preservation planning. His work in the Washington, D.C., region has included historic landmark and district applications, National Register and National Historic Landmark nominations, historic district design guidelines, preservation plans, historic resource surveys, historic structure and cultural landscape reports, and Section 106 and NEPA reviews for federal construction and planning projects.
He currently serves as staff to the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, an independent federal agency that advises Congress and the President on historic preservation policy and provides technical guidance to other federal agencies on compliance with historic preservation laws and regulations. Mr. Marzella has also served as board member or volunteer with the D.C. Chapter of the Association for Preservation Technology, the Latrobe Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians, and the National Building Museum.
Mr. Marzella received his Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Arts in Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University.
Mr. Marzella was appointed in 2024. His current term ends on July 21, 2026.
