Emily Johnson

Emily Johnson is the Cross Systems Planner at the DC Office of Planning. In her role, she coordinates data-driven research, technical analysis, and cross system planning in OP's Citywide Strategy and Analysis Division, helping the agency gain a deeper understanding of the gaps and opportunities of improved systems in the context of growth, capacity, and land use. Emily works to advance cross-cutting strategies related to health equity, affordable housing, food systems, sustainability, land use, and inclusive economic development in Washington, DC. Emily was previously a Policy Analyst for OP where she supported the DC Food Policy Council and Food Policy Director with strategic food policy and data analysis for a more equitable, healthy, and sustainable food system and contributed to crosscutting citywide policies including the Comprehensive Plan, Sustainable DC 2.0, and the DC Cultural Plan.

Prior to working at OP, Emily worked on food policy and economic justice issues at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the North Carolina Governor’s Office, the World Food Policy Center at Duke University, the US Agency for International Development, and as an Emerson National Hunger Fellow in Seattle, WA and Washington, DC. Emily is a graduate of Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy, where she earned her master’s degree in public policy.
