
Christopher Delfs serves as the Chief of Staff for the DC Office of Planning (OP) and provides leadership for an agency of 70 employees. He advises the Director on matters of policy and operations and coordinates staff resources for Mayoral and interagency initiatives. He also oversees legislative affairs, human resources, and organizational management including budget and performance planning. Mr. Delfs joined the Office of Planning in 2012 as the Senior Citywide Planner responsible for capital and facilities planning. Before that he worked as the head of Strategic Planning for the DC Department of Transportation where he managed the teams responsible for Neighborhood Planning, System Planning, and Development Review, and created the Department’s Livable Streets program.
Mr. Delfs holds his B.A. from Middlebury College in Vermont, M.A.s from American University and the United Nations University for Peace in Costa Rica, and a certificate in Collaborative Governance from the Harvard University Kennedy School. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, and has played a key role in the District of Columbia’s Comprehensive Plan as well as master plans for Transportation, Public Safety, Parks and Recreation, and Public Works.
