Job Summary

This position is located in the Office of Planning (OP), Historic Preservation Office (HPO). The OP mission is to plan for the long-term growth of the District of Columbia, to help ensure it reflects our values of an inclusive and vibrant city. OP helps the District work toward a positive future in which all District residents can thrive, regardless of income, race, age, or background. OP guides development in the District of Columbia’s distinctive neighborhoods by engaging stakeholders and residents, performing research and analysis, serving as the steward of our historic resources, and publishing various planning documents, racial equity, coordination of public resources and civic infrastructure including the Comprehensive Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent in this role is responsible for overseeing electronic filings, managing public notices, coordinating virtual meetings, and handling diverse assignments that require advanced administrative and analytical skills. Furthermore, they provide website support for the Historic Preservation Office (HPO), emphasizing a comprehensive understanding of the agency’s goals and program activities. Responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the HPO staff to communicate to senior officials promptly regarding adherence to project deadlines. Receives, processes, and transmits electronic project submissions for the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB), Old Georgetown Board, and Commission of Fine Arts and maintaining digital project files for public access. Issues public notices, collecting filing fees, and maintaining records for project submissions.

Schedules and operating WebEx/YouTube public video meetings of the HPRB and hearings of Mayor’s Agent, registering and providing direction to public hearing presenters, and preparing all virtual meeting documents for HPRB and Mayor’s Agent hearings. Responds to public inquiries including phone calls and emails. Assists with scheduling, preparing for and participating in public events and outreach efforts.  Assists the OP front office and Director’s Office as needed. Collaborates and supports agency administrative tasks, as needed. Assists in the maintenance of the HPO website.
