Online Mapping Tools

A growing number of online mapping tools provide easy access to many kinds of information about the District of Columbia. Some have been developed by our own staff to help answer specific sorts of questions, others are general-purpose tools provided by the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), and still more are popular commercial products. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but highlights some of the sites we use in our own work.

PropertyQuest

A product of the DC Office of Planning.  The best tool for understanding which DC sites are historic. Also handy for sourcing everything from Ward, ANC, SMD, property tax information, Census tract information, and Google StreetView imagery. Note: The current version relies on Adobe Flash.  A mobile-friendly edition is coming soon.

DC Ward Map

An interactive Ward map that works on mobile devices.  Note that Ward maps are also available in Adobe PDF format here.

Open Data DC

A central repository of maps and data provided by the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO)

Online maping applications provided by OCTO

A variety of tools for viewing spatial information for DC

DC Zoning Maps
