Joshua Silver

Joshua Silver, Lead Planner for Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships, joined the DC Office of Planning, Neighborhood Planning Division in 2014 as the Ward 1 Neighborhood Planner. In his current role, Josh focuses on spearheading the development and management of strategic place-based planning initiatives and establishing and strengthening institutional/philanthropic partnerships to implement neighborhood plans and citywide policies.  Josh has also been instrumental in leading OP’s creative placemaking initiative, “Crossing the Street: Building DC’s Inclusive Future Through Creative Placemaking”. As Ward 1 Planner, Josh led one of the first pilots of a neighborhood-scale planning tool called a “Vision Framework” , which he completed for Adams Morgan focusing on economic development, cultural identity, public space, and sustainability. Prior to joining OP, Josh worked for seven years as an urban planner at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. He holds Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from University at Albany, State University of New York, and Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from University at Albany, State University of New York.
