Mekdy Alemayehu is the Communications Director at the DC Office of Planning. In this role, Mekdy is responsible for developing and executing the Agency’s comprehensive communications and public affairs strategies. Previously, she served as the Public Information Officer at the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development. Prior to joining DC Government, Mekdy worked at the US Department of Transportation’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization and the Naval Research Laboratory’s Financial Management Division. Mekdy holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Business with concentrations in Finance and International Business from Drexel University in Philadelphia.
