Sakina Khan
Senior Economic Planner
Sakina Khan is a senior economic planner with the DC Office of Planning. Her skills include market analysis, socioeconomic impact assessment, revitalization, and economic development planning. She is managing the District's first ever citywide Retail Action Strategy, which seeks to strengthen the city's retail base, recapture substantial spending that leaks out of the District, and promote vibrant neighborhood commercial districts. Ms. Khan is also a lead planner on the Center City Action Agenda, an initiative to transform centrally-located neighborhoods into dynamic mixed use centers of activity. Ms. Khan was a contributing author to the District's Comprehensive Plan citywide and area elements, and managed technical work for the Plan update. Prior to joining the Office of Planning, she was a senior associate at a consulting firm, specializing in socioeconomic impact assessment of large-scale projects in economically disadvantaged locations. Ms. Khan is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she earned her master's degree in city planning. |
