Council Chairman Linda W. Cropp announces a public hearing by the Committee of the Whole on PR 15-580, the H Street NE Strategic Development Plan Approval Resolution of 2003. The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at approximately 2 pm, in the Council Chamber, located on the fifth floor of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.
PR 15-580, introduced by Chairman Cropp at the request of the Mayor, would approve the H Street, NE Strategic Development Plan, which is the product of a 12-month planning process initiated by the Office of Planning and engaged with community stakeholders. The H Street, NE Strategic Development Plan includes a vision and strategies for revitalizing the H Street, NE mixed use commercial corridor between North Capitol and 14th Streets in Ward 6, and the commercial area bounded by Bladensburg Road, 17th Street, Benning Road and K Street, NE in Ward 5.
Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify at the public hearing are asked to telephone Aretha Latta, Administrative Assistant to the Committee of the Whole, at 724 8196, or send email to alatta@dccouncil.us, and furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers and organizational affiliation, if any, by the close of business on Thursday, January 15, 2004. They should also bring with them 20 copies of their written testimony or submit one copy of their written testimony by Thursday, January 15, 2004. Persons presenting testimony may be limited to three minutes in order to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard.
Written statements for the record are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record.
