The AWI Target Areas

Within the boundaries of the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative there are 8 target areas that have been studied in detail, with a vision and plan for each. The AWI target areas bring together the 5 AWI themes to create strong, waterfront neighborhoods in specific locations along the Anacostia River. The target areas identified by the AWI are: Southwest Waterfront South Capitol Street Corridor Near Southeast Hill East Waterfront Poplar Point East of the River Gateways Kingman and Heritage Islands Anacostia Riverwalk and RiverParks
