Office of Planning Receives Two American Planning Association Awards
(Washington, DC) Judy Daniel, Chapter President of the National Capital Area Chapter of the American Planning Association (NCAC APA), announced today that the DC Office of Planning is the recipient of two NCAC awards. The NCAC APA gave the awards for the Columbia Heights Public Realm Framework Plan as “Outstanding Work in a Plan” and the Vision for Growing an Inclusive City for “Outstanding Work in the Special Community Initiative” category. “Outstanding” is the highest level of recognition awarded to nominated projects.
NCAC APA gave the “Outstanding Work in A Plan” award to the DC Office of Planning and the Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership for the Columbia Heights Public Realm Framework Plan. The organization also gave the “Outstanding Work in the Special Community Initiative” award to the DC Office of Planning and Beyer Blinder Belle Architects and Planners, LLP, for Vision for Growing an Inclusive City.
The NCAC APA awards will take place at the spectacular International Spy Museum, 800 F Street, NW, in Washington, DC’s, historic Pennsylvania Quarter neighborhood on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The organization will give a total of 21 awards in 19 categories.
Hosted by the NCAC APA, the event honors outstanding work in the field of urban and regional planning, outstanding planning professionals, and those citizens, students, elected and appointed professionals, and media who have made outstanding contributions to the field.
The NCAC APA represents town, city, and county planners, representatives of related professions, elected officials and citizen planners in Washington, DC, and Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland. The organization is dedicated to the promotion of sound planning and land use practices.
This year’s award winners cover a broad variety of projects.
