News Release for Immediate Release July 26, 2004
Release of Revised Upper Wisconsin Avenue Corridor Study - Strategic Framework Plan
(Washington, DC) The DC Office of Planning (OP) is releasing the revised "Upper Wisconsin Avenue Corridor Study (UWACS) Strategic Framework Plan." The UWACS Plan was revised in response to public comments on the initial draft plan, which was released last November.
The purpose of the plan is to provide a strategy for guiding redevelopment opportunities, encouraging a better mix of retail uses, creating a sense of place, and preserving the existing assets along Wisconsin Avenue. To that end, the Framework Plan policy recommendations are organized under four primary themes: managing growth, protecting neighborhoods, encouraging a greater retail mix, and creating an attractive streetscape and improved public realm.
A public meeting to present the revised "Upper Wisconsin Avenue Corridor Study (UWACS) Strategic Framework Plan" is scheduled for Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the Georgetown Day School, 4200 Davenport Street, NW.
