Chris Shaheen Revitalization Program Manager
Chris Shaheen manages the Public Space and Sustainability Program in the District of Columbia's Office of Planning. Building on 14 years of experience in both the public and private sector, he currently manages and implements open space and public realm plans and promotes sustainable development practices. Projects he has worked on range from citywide initiatives involving local and federal agencies to specific streetscape or open space plans proposed by the private sector. He plays a key role in drafting legislation for green buildings in the District and is active in current efforts to adopt green building and sustainable development standards for the Washington metropolitan area.
Prior to working for the District, Chris worked for Arlington County's Neighborhood Conservation Program. He was also a grant manager for National Park Service's American Battlefield Protection Program, which funded grants to protect historic landscapes and agricultural land, and has worked as a landscape architect and heritage preservation planner in the private sector. |
