J. Brendan Meyer
Preservation Specialist
Brendan Meyer is a preservation specialist for the Historic Preservation Office (HPO). He works with property owners and other permit applicants to explain HPO guidelines, standards and procedures in the review of building permit applications for repairs, in-kind replacement and alterations to historic properties. Mr. Meyer is the primary contact responsible for reviewing projects in Anacostia and Mount Vernon Square, and for property owners seeking assistance under the DC Historic Homeowner Grant Program. He has particular expertise in the evaluation of resources from the mid-20th century. Prior to joining the HPO in 2006, he served for three years as Program Director of the DC Neighborhood Heritage Trails program for Cultural Tourism DC, a non-profit organization, and as the Administrative Director of Preservation Action, a national lobbying organization. He is also an active volunteer for the DC chapter of Habitat for Humanity. He has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame (1993). |
