Park Morton Redevelopment Plan

Image of the rendering of the Park Morton Redevelopment Plan

Consistent with the New Communities Initiative, the goal of this effort is to transform the public housing property and it's immediate neighborhood into a mixed-income, mixed-use community. In this new community, residents will have access to high-quality housing options affordable at all income levels and to the human services necessary to help prepare them to take advantage of the new economic opportunities and changes that are coming their way.

The Park Morton Redevelopment Initiative Plan is compromised of the three components: A Physical Plan for the development of sites throughout the neighborhood; A Human Capital Plan to meet the current needs of residents and to prepare them to benefit from the changes coming the their community; and A Development and Finance Strategy for implementing these plans.

The Park Morton Redevelopment Initiative Plan seeks to improve the community's affordable housing stock, access to commercial and retail opportunities, urban design and sustainability, community and open space and transportation.

The Council of the District of Columbia approved this plan on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 through Resolution 17-0538.

Archival information on the public engagement process, hearing transcript, and public comment responses can be requested through the project manager.
