Public Participation in Georgetown Review

The Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC 2E), community organizations, and residents participate actively in the review of projects in Georgetown.

ANC 2E monitors concept and permit applications to identify and review projects that may affect the community. ANC 2E routinely submits comments on projects to the Old Georgetown Board (OGB), Commission of Fine Arts (CFA), Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB), and Historic Preservation Office (HPO), as applicable.

Applicants are encouraged to contact Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2E directly before presenting a project to OGB or HPRB. Applicants for major construction typically present their projects to the ANC before going to OGB.

ANC 2E usually meets two days before the monthly Old Georgetown Board meeting. Consult the ANC website for more information about the meeting time, location, and agenda.

Community Involvement

The Citizens Association of Georgetown (CAG), Georgetown Business Improvement District, and many Georgetown residents participate actively in protecting the historic character of the neighborhood.

CAG was instrumental in the creation of the Georgetown Historic District and continues to represent the interests of neighborhood residents in local affairs.

The Georgetown BID is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the accessibility, attractiveness and overall appeal of Georgetown’s commercial district.

Applicants are also strongly encouraged to contact their neighbors when planning a building addition or other work that may have a substantial effect on nearby properties.
