H Street Corridor Revitalization Main Page

The Office of Planning completed the H Street NE Strategic Development Plan in 2004. This plan was developed to guide community, private sector and public agency actions and investments in revitalizing this traditional neighborhood corridor over the next ten years (beginning with adoption of the plan in 2004). The Study area boundary extends from North Capitol Street to 17th Street NE along H Street NE. The total area extends approximately 1.5 miles comprising 13 blocks.

The Office of Planning worked with community groups and the ANC to form and Advisory Committee. A series of Advisory Committee meetings were held to identify the key initial issues affecting H Street. A five day interactive design charrette was held with the public. Ongoing progress reports were also provided by OP to stakeholder groups throughout the process. Over 500 residents and stakeholders participated in the community process.

The Draft Plan was released to the Public on May 23, 2003 and a public hearing was held the following month. The Office Of Planning submitted the plan to the Council of the District of Columbia on November 26, 2003 and the Plan was adopted on February 17, 2004 through resolution R15-460. Archival information on the public engagement process, hearing transcript, and public comment responses can be requested through the project manager
