14th Street Corridor Vision Plan and Revitalization Strategy

The District of Columbia's Office of Planning is initiating a community planning process with area stakeholders (including residents, ANC 4A, ANC 4C, neighborhood organizations, Council staff, businesses, property owners, institutions and government agencies) to develop a strategic revitalization strategy for the 14th Street corridor, with particular emphasis on improving retail options and physical appearance.

The District of Columbia, in collaboration with the residents of the Barry Farm, Park Chester and Wade Road community, initiated a process to plan for and implement the revitalization of the area’s low income properties and the surrounding neighborhood. The Barry Farm/Park Chester/Wade Road community is located in the Anacostia neighborhood area, and is generally bound by Suitland Parkway to the north, Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue to the east, Firth Sterling Avenue to the west, and St. Elizabeth’s West Campus to the south

Boathouse Row refers to the long narrow stretch of land on the west side of the Anacostia River between the 11th Street Bridges and the John Phillips Sousa Bridge at Pennsylvania Avenue. Nestled in between Water Street SE / M Street SE / the railroad tracks and the river, marinas and community boathouses have long dotted the shore, offering maritime connections in the District to the Anacostia River. The site is currently designated Parkland on the 2006 Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map. The 2006 Comprehensive Plan includes numerous policy and action items which support the provision of greater access to and along the river; better utilization of the riverfront for recreation; and environmental improvements to both the Anacostia River and its shoreline
