Historic Preservation Services for Business, Institutions, and Government

Businesses, institutions, and the government are responsible for an impressive collection of historic properties in the District of Columbia. These groups lead the city’s historic preservation efforts and maintain a major portion of the city’s built heritage. Developers and small businesses revitalize deteriorating buildings and historic neighborhoods. Educational and religious institutions struggle to preserve an exceptional architectural legacy with limited resources. Government agencies balance similar budget constraints with multiple public responsibilities.

The Historic Preservation Office and Historic Preservation Review Board can help these civic leaders in several ways. HPRB provides responsive guidance and direction. HPO provides technical expertise, promotes a productive dialogue among public and private groups, and manages an efficient and predictable preservation review process.
