REMINDER: New York Avenue between Penn Street and Florida Avenue to be Closed Saturday, August 4 

Detour Will Apply to Westbound New York Avenue Starting at Penn Street NE and to Eastbound New York Avenue Starting at Florida Avenue NE

The District of Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be closing New York Avenue, NE between Penn Street and Florida Avenue between 1 am and 5 pm on Saturday, August 4.

(Washington, DC) – The District of Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be closing New York Avenue, NE between Penn Street and Florida Avenue between 1 am and 5 pm on Saturday, August 4.  The closures will be required to accommodate work associated with the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

Detours

  • Westbound (inbound) traffic on New York Avenue, NE will be redirected at Penn Street, NE to 6th Street, NE and Florida Avenue, NE and then back to New York Avenue, NE.
  • Eastbound (outbound) traffic will be redirected at Florida Avenue, NE to 6th Street, NE and Penn Street, NE and then back to New York Avenue, NE.

Traffic control personnel will be present at the start and end of the detours to keep traffic flowing and to direct motorists. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Rhode Island Avenue or H Street, NE.

In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.

DDOT encourages all motorists to Stay Alert and follow all signs as they travel through this corridor.
